We are just a mere week away from the start of the 2008 Summer Olympics and I thought it important to highlight some incredible historical moments. This is a list of “manliest” moments in Olympic history. Many times, they are not the most heroic or most successful – just ones that make us all stop and think what we are capable of as human beings.
When considering manliness, we often think of facing our shortcomings and our greatest fears. We want to win, but also know that it …

I stole this line directly from the remake of Ocean’s Eleven. Brad Pitt’s character (Rusty) was a man of very few words, but an extremely effective communicator.
Rusty coaches Matt Damon to “never use eight words, when four will do“. As Damon’s character (Linus) prepares for a one-time only attempt at the sting, Rusty wanted Linus to be an effective communicator and to NOT get on the nerves of Terry Benedict (Andy Garcia) – which could blow up the whole charade.
What Rusty was afraid of, was that Linus was …

Every Monday, Return To Manliness explores a pressing issue in today’s society and offers up a “Tough Love” response to fix the problem. The solution(s) offered are not meant to win a popularity contest and may be seen as harsh or somewhat insensitive. This is never meant to offend anyone or any group of people. It is only an alternative way, most likely not all mainstream in its solutions, of exploring the issue.

As most manly men do, I like to drink. If you don’t drink, it makes you no less of a man or limits your manliness in any way. My co-conspirator on this site, Cody, does not drink, and he is one of the manliest guys I know.

Is being a Metrosexual manly? The short hair helps the argument.
I subscribe to Google Alerts and receive maybe 100 emails a day on keywords appearing in blogs, news stories, etc. This past week, the keyword “metrosexual” showed up A LOT.
Plenty of of it has to do with news concerning the Beckham and Ronaldo battle for the king of metrosexuals crown. That doesn’t tell the whole story, though.
When Mark Simpson coined this term in 1994 and followed it up in 2002 with a story in Salon.com introducing “Becks” as the undisputed …

Two megastars of “the pitch” (soccer for us Americans or football for everyone else) are garnering tons of attention lately. There’s a public grudge match taking place to settle who the biggest metrosexual of the two is.
Cristiano Ronaldo and David Beckham appear to be in some sort of “which one of us can be the gayer” contest of wills. It is a modern day metrosexual arms race of tanning sensation, hair care perfection, and waxing every part of their body imaginable. (Did I mention these guys are …

RTM was graced with the honor to do guest post for the tremendous site, DiscoveringDad.net. Jeremy, author and publisher, shares his knowledge of fatherhood with great wit, charisma, and an incredibly effective writing style.
I used to hear this all the time from my parents. As a new parent, I am certain I will be saying this at some point to my kids too.
As parents, we always want what’s best for our children. One of those things is to protect them at all costs. We will make imperative …
