Time Away’s Been Nice, But Gotta Get Back On The Horse

Where have you been RTM?
RTM has essentially been shut down for a month. I have been MIA and I apologize. I would love to find the perfect political excuse for why I have abandoned this effort, but there is no excuse – just reasons.
For the good folks who have supported this site in the past and want more manliness drivel, let’s get to it. For those who have relished in my inactivity and would rather see me just go away, go grab some Pepto and hunker down …

Interesting Reflection: Man Drought Is Fact Of Dating Life

There are some really good articles floating around in today’s ether on the lack of manliness in all men and the lack of men that possess any of it at all.  As I was reading this article from The New Zealand Herald, it made me contemplate this young woman’s dilema.  The article is titled Man drought is fact of dating life.
Here is an excerpt from that article:
Young, gorgeous, successful – and single. For Christine Kitching, 24, Auckland’s “man drought,” is not a vague concept, but a reality.
The high-flying Air New Zealand …

Return To Manliness Redesign – One Full Week In The Books

Return To Manliness website underwent a complete redesign last weekend.  After careful review and thoughtful consideration (and about 15 yard beers), it was deemed a magazine theme was in store for the new look.
I went with Michael Jubel Hutagalung’s Arthemia theme.  The response has been good all week with emails and comments.  If you are an RSS reader of the blog and have not been to the main site in awhile, come check it out.  I would really like your feedback on the new look.  DON’T hold back!  If you …

Today’s Top Athletes Are All Metrosexuals? Save us Gordie!

Two megastars of “the pitch” (soccer for us Americans or football for everyone else) are garnering tons of attention lately. There’s a public grudge match taking place to settle who the biggest metrosexual of the two is.
Cristiano Ronaldo and David Beckham appear to be in some sort of “which one of us can be the gayer” contest of wills. It is a modern day metrosexual arms race of tanning sensation, hair care perfection, and waxing every part of their body imaginable. (Did I mention these guys are …

Just Do It Because I Said So!

RTM was graced with the honor to do guest post for the tremendous site, DiscoveringDad.net. Jeremy, author and publisher, shares his knowledge of fatherhood with great wit, charisma, and an incredibly effective writing style.
I used to hear this all the time from my parents. As a new parent, I am certain I will be saying this at some point to my kids too.
As parents, we always want what’s best for our children. One of those things is to protect them at all costs. We will make imperative …

Flint Michigan Implements Controversial Sagging Pants Law

Flint’s interim Police Chief David Dicks (yup…that’s his name) began implementing a controversial new “sagging pants law“.  In short, let your pants sag and you will be warned, then fined, and finally put in jail if you don’t comply with this indecent exposure law.  Here is some content from the article that explains the Chief’s position:
Dicks, who took over the department last month on an interim basis, announced that his officers would start arresting people wearing saggy pants that expose skivvies, boxer shorts or bare bottoms.
“Some people call it a …

Manliness Article Of The Day: Stubble Is Manly

The Telegraph UK cited a study done by Northumbria University in Newcastle, England (great beer by the way) on that Women prefer men with stubble for love, sex and marriage. Fascinating finding that puts science behind what every man has believed for a VERY long time – most women dig the facial hair.
Now, I know I will get all kinds of flack from the women who don’t like it (e.g. RtM gal – a.k.a. my wife), but the fact of the matter is, most do like it. …

Emergency Fund: Protect Your Family’s Future Without Using Debt

One of my main Manliness Traits is Protect Your Family At All Costs. When it comes to finances and managing your money, there isn’t a more important aspect of that protection than creating and controlling an emergency fund to ensure you cover all your bills when something unusual comes up. Some call this a rainy day fund. Some call it a relief fund. In short, an emergency fund is a cash reserve that you keep in a safe place and use only for emergencies.
It should …
